So, you’ve got your own e-liquid line, now what? Just like every other business, when you create a product, you need to get it in front of people in order to make sales. A product without any kind of marketing doesn’t make money and doesn’t allow you to create any more of it. Your number one obstacle is creating an e-liquid that will sell. Assuming you have a high quality e-liquid though, how do you get it into vape shops?

Examining the current market and developing a strategy based off of that is key. First, let’s explore some tips to establish yourself and make yourself known. These are tips that could put you in front of shop owners and distributors worldwide.

1. Come Up With A Solid Launch Strategy

The problem with e-liquid is that everyone thinks they have a unique and special brand of e-liquid. One strategy that has worked for some product owners is to give out some small free samples. Once you get people hooked on a free sample, they’ll come crawling back for more. This is a pre-launch strategy that a lot of retailers frequently use.

2. Networking

Having connections is key to any business succeeding. If you live in a city, chances are, there are multiple vape shops and people you know who vape. It would be wise to form a connection with these people and to network with them. One person who vapes knows another person who vapes and so forth. Once you convince one person to give it a shot, it can be a domino effect and word of mouth goes a long way in a specific niche market like this.

3. Put Yourself Online

Having your own website can bring customers and vape shops to you. However, a website should be specifically tailored to your e-liquid business and shouldn’t be targeting your market to sell products to. Your goal here is to get your e-liquid into as many vape shops as you possibly can. How do you build a website?

You can either pay someone to do it (which can be costly), or you can follow a few simple steps to get a relatively cheap website done.

  • Get yourself a domain that represents your brand well. Domains are generally very cheap and can be bought from sources like Namecheap, Godaddy, Site5 or Hostgator.
  • Once you have the domain, you’ll need hosting (preferably purchased from the same site you bought your domain on).
  • Next, you’ll want to install WordPress as it’s the easiest to manage without knowing any coding.
  • There’s a plethora of free themes out there for WordPress, so you can find one that you feel represents your site well.
  • After that, you just need to fill it with content and convince distributors to buy your e-liquid. Make sure to leave contact information on the site so people can get a hold of you if interested.

4. Social Media Presence

Having a social media presence for your business is mandatory today. When people aren’t using Google, they’re looking things up on social media portals such as Facebook and Twitter. Having your brand and business established on there is a great way to make yourself known. Also, you can do giveaway contests for free samples while encouraging people to retweet or share posts.

5. Your Brand

It doesn’t hurt to take some inspiration from other successful e-liquid lines to see what their logo looks like, their pricing, their marketing strategy, where they’ve established themselves and what kind of offers they have.

Establishing yourself is important because vape shops could come directly to you. However, this process isn’t going to automate itself and you still need to get out there and stomp the pavements.

6. Simply Walk In the Door

If you want your e-liquid in a vape shop, simply walk in and ask the owner if they can try it out. The worst thing that happens is they say no and you can move onto the next vape shop. The art of cold-approach selling is a valuable tool you’ll have to get accustomed to if you want to approach shop owners and distributors. Remember though, they’re a business and they’re going to want to know some figure numbers.

  • What’s the pricing of your e-liquid?
  • What kind of return on investment can the owner expect for your price?
  • How much can you produce and provide?
  • What are the contents of your product?

You need to have all of that prepared before walking into a vape shop or approaching a distributor.

7. Salesman

If you’ve got the budget, you might want to hire a salesman to roam about and do the selling for you. Not everyone has a keen sense of what sells and how to sell it; this is why salesmen exist. Offer them something comfortable in your budget but don’t chop off an arm and a leg banking on guaranteed sales. These are people who will approach vape shop owners for you and try to sell your product.

8. Events/Trade Shows

There are vape related trade shops across the country that you could attend. Plenty of shop owners and distributors attend these events and they’re a potential gold mine for your e-liquid. Getting your own booth can be potentially pricey but attending them is usually free. Handing out free samples at trade shows to owners with your contact information could be a huge boost to your business.
